Summer Camp 2026: Out of Africa – The Village Square
Dates: August 3rd – August 7th, 2026
Focus: Creativity, Culture, and Leadership

Description
Step into The Village Square, a vibrant community where storytelling, leadership, and physical expression come together to inspire the next generation of changemakers. Rooted in the rich traditions of African culture, this session invites campers to unplug from the everyday and plug into a dynamic blend of cultural history and modern innovation.
Our curriculum is designed to challenge the mind, move the body, and foster a deep sense of social responsibility. In the midst of rhythm and play, something profound takes place: campers find their voices, build confidence, and learn what it means to lead with heart and purpose
Pillar 1: Narrative & Leadership
Empowering the voice of the individual to inspire the collective.
-
The Power of Voice: Each morning students participate in storytelling workshops, helping campers learn about their unique heritage and build the public speaking confidence necessary for future leadership.
-
Future Leaders Program: We challenge students to bridge the gap between social responsibility and scientific innovation through hands-on projects that support local environmental initiatives.
Pillar 2: Heritage & Creative Arts
Connecting to global traditions through hands-on expression.
-
Cultural Movement: Campers experience the rhythm and history of Africa through Capoeira and traditional Song & Drumming, fostering a deep, lived appreciation for cultural lineage.
-
Artistic Exploration: Daily sessions in Arts, Crafts, and Dance provide a tactile outlet for imagination, ensuring every camper can express their learning through creative media.
Pillar 3: Active Play & Community
Building resilience and joy through physical engagement.
-
PlayCali (Physical Lively Activities for Youth): This signature program explores the diverse forms of play that bring people together. From high-energy games of Capture the Flag to the rhythmic skill of jump rope and hula hooping, we focus on the "Village" aspect of our camp—learning to win, lose, and grow together.
Our Philosophy
In the tradition of great community-building, we prioritize growth, independence, and multicultural understanding. Our staff is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive environment where campers from all backgrounds can thrive, discover new passions, and take home a new sense of awe for the world around them.
The Village Square Mission: To create a space where the next generation of leaders can unplug from technology and reconnect with the human spirit through culture, movement, and environmental stewardship.
