Our Communities Our Stories
At AWỌ, we believe that access to healthcare is a human right — not a privilege. Medi-Cal provides a vital lifeline for individuals and families who might otherwise go without essential medical, mental health, and preventive care. Starting January 1, 2026, California will pause new full-scope Medi-Cal enrollment for certain adults who do not have a “satisfactory immigration status.” This means that community members who are eligible today may not be able to enroll in the future — losing access to doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital care, and mental health support that help keep our communities strong.
This is why our Medi-Cal Enrollment and Awareness Campaign is so important. We are working to ensure that every eligible person — regardless of background or immigration status can enroll before the December 31, 2025 deadline and maintain care into 2026 and beyond.
But this work cannot be done alone. It takes a collective effort — community organizations, faith leaders, health providers, and advocates — coming together to share accurate information, build trust, and support our neighbors through the enrollment process.
